Shannon Gallagher

Violin & Piano Instructor

Shannon taught from her own private music studio and worked with various other music schools in Southern Ontario before moving to Winnipeg. With eleven years of teaching experience, she has trained many enthusiastic students who have performed in music festivals, orchestra, and recitals.

Shannon started her violin studies at the age of five in the Greater Toronto Area. She continued on to formal training on the viola under Chau Luk, member of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. She went on to join the Mooredale Youth Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. After some time she pursued her musical studies at York University under Jacques Israelievitch. While at York University she participated in the symphony orchestra and was part of several chamber groups. Before moving to Winnipeg, Shannon focused her studies under the tutelage of Ivan Ivanovich of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and played in large ensembles across the GTA.

After coming to Winnipeg in 2017,  she was a violin instructor at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts. From there she became part of the Music Equals program as a violin teacher.

Starting in 2019, Shannon pursued her piano studies in order to help accompany her violin students. She is currently studying piano under Michael Onwood. She is excited to continue expanding her musical knowledge and sharing it with her students.
